About Drew

While studying landscape architecture at Kansas State University, Drew learned about zoo design and sought an internship with WDM. “It combined three things I loved most: animals and the natural world, creative problem-solving, and learning about different cultures.”

During his internship, Drew worked on several zoological projects and decided it was what he wanted to devote his professional life to. After obtaining his degree in 2006, Drew officially joined WDM, where his first major project as an exhibit designer was the Slawson Tiger Trek at Sedgwick County Zoo.

“Each project starts with a goal-setting session where I just become a sponge, soaking up all that information, all those goals and all the passion from the people you are working with. These ideas just come to you, you’re sketching together, and when you present them a ‘napkin sketch,’ their eyes just light up, and they are just so excited. That is one of my favorite parts.” – Drew Jordan, RLA

Drew’s warmth and enthusiasm are contagious, whether he’s working on an exhibit for the zoo in Cleveland or Phoenix or right here in Wichita for Botanica’s Carousel Gardens.

“I find inspiration in the tapestry of the living and non-living environment that make up the natural world around me.”
