About the Project
The Slawson Tiger Trek is an immersive zoo exhibit featuring three distinct tiger species, as well as Red Panda and Brow-Antlered Deer. Outdoor exhibits model the animals’ native habitat, with special attention given to maximizing the area for the animals. The tigers have access to three outdoor yards, an off-exhibit yard and two on display, the largest being nearly 20,000 s.f. Views of each animal from a number of vantage points allow the animals opportunities to explore their unique habitat and still be seen by guests. The Asian-themed lodge in the center of the habitat offers guests a climate-controlled viewing experience with the added attraction of two animal training walls.
Conservation of these animals and education on the human threat facing their native habitat provides the underlying storyline for guests as they move throughout the exhibit.
