People of the Forest
Phoenix Zoo

Bornean orangutans have called the Phoenix Zoo home since it opened in 1962. The Orangutan Experience features the choices and challenges that orangutans face in the wild. The exhibit provides numerous viewing opportunities for zoo guests while also challenging them to learn more about this incredible species. Guests find themselves surrounded by the orangutan’s habitat in a climate controlled interpretive center appropriate for both classroom learning opportunities and special events at the zoo.
